PTLLS (Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector)

If you are preparing to teach in the UK in the lifelong learning sector, and you are a new or unqualified teacher, PTLLS is a required course.  This UK based requirement ensures that teachers have the knowledge and skills needed to teach those who continue their education for professional or personal reasons.

Becoming a UK teacher is easy with Knight Learning.  We provide you with education that meets the highest standard teaching qualifications in the UK. We guide you through every step of the process to ensure that you know exactly what needs to be done along the way so that you can successfully understand how to become a teacher.

Our PTLLS courses will give you the education you need to comply with the Further Education National Training Organisation and the Employment National Training Organisation standards.  Our PTLLS training is perfect for teachers, trainers, and tutors who are interested in the Lifelong Learning Sector, Community and Adult Education.  If you train in the public, volunteer, public, or commerce sectors, our level 3 and level 4 courses will give you the guidance you need.

Our PTLLS courses do require that part time teachers in the adult and further education already hold qualifications in their intended subject, or are currently employed in a teaching or training role upon registering.  Each level of our PTLLS training has its own descriptions, and are provided here so that you understand the differences between the two.

Level 3 Courses

  • This level will provide you with the knowledge applicable to the principles required, and how individual theories apply in this particular field.
  • Students will have to show evidence that they have completed the required reading materials, and understand how to apply the theories in practice.
  • Students will have to consider how their professional values will have an impact on their work in this sector.
  • Students will also have to provide evidence of a reflective approach in applying their knowledge in their field.

Level 4 Courses

  • Students will learn the relationship between the principles and theories they learn, and how they apply in their intended or current roles.
  • Students will be provided with a planned approach to guide them through the research and readings required in the course.
  • Students will need to show evidence of their understanding of their role in a coherent manner.
  • Students will be required to present their information in the proper format, including proper referencing of the sources that are used.
  • Students will be required to reflect on their own reading, and how their practice is grounded in it.

Level 4 PTLLS courses do provide more benefits than the level 3.  Most employers prefer hiring those who have the higher level over those with only a level 3 certification.  If you plan to continue your education in the CTLLS or higher levels, you will need to show proof that you have completed level four training effectively.
