PTS courses

Knight Learning offers comprehensive nationwide railway safety courses.  Knight Learning specialises in the health and safety sector, so you know you are always in safe hands.  Our personal Track Safety Training provides you with the knowledge and education you need to ensure your understanding of the safe working practices that are used in the UK that will keep you and those around you safe when working near or on the line.

Working around trains requires intensive training so you can understand how they differ from road vehicles, and their capabilities in stopping.  When working on the lines, it is your duty to pay attention to your surroundings, and know how to react accordingly.  A train is not able to stop for you, so your education in these areas will save your life.

Our Personal Track Safety course will educate you on the main hazards that can occur on the lines, including worker and rail vehicle collisions, trips and falls, and electrocution from OHLE, or third or fourth rail power sources.  Upon completion of the training, you will be familiar with the situations that are conducive to these issues so that you can avoid entering areas where they might occur.  You will also be trained on how to properly react in these situations if another train is approaching, and how to move around in these situations so that you remain safe at all times.

If you want to work on the lines, or near them in the UK, you must have your PTS Initial AC, which shows that you have the ability to access the lines safely.  You must pass this certification to ensure that you do not have any medical conditions that may make you unable to respond appropriately to dangerous situations.  Once you have this card, you can then take the required PTS courses so that you can work on the lines with full certification.

Knight Learning also offers PTS Recert AC, which is the recertification that is required to continue working on or near the line.  Once you have completed this course, you will have a full understanding of how to interpret the Track Safety Handbook, and how to properly follow the Safe System of Work that is required by all those employed to work on or near the line.  You will also have a full understanding of how to follow directions that may be given to you while you are working in these areas.

The UK takes their rail safety very seriously, and the PTS courses and training are a requirement.  Knight Learning will ensure that you meet all of these requirements, and have a complete understanding of all possible scenarios that could be presented when working on the line.  Due to the size, speeds, and stopping distances, trains and other workers rely on you to alert them to danger, and make sure all areas are kept safe.  Training with Knight Learning will give you all of the training that is required so you can work safely.
